Journey- with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra
Opening night at the Hollywood Bowl for the summer concert series was kicked off by Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, backed by the full Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Tonight, my family saw Mannheim Steamroller Christmas at the Hollywood Bowl.
We arrived at the Hollywood Bowl 2 hours early to eat our picnic dinner on the grass inside the Bowl. The weather was very pleasant, not too hot & not too cold.
The concert started promptly at 8 p.m. Danny DeVito introduced Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas first played four songs with the LA Youth Orchestra. And we learned that Mannheim Steamroller Christmas had fired their drummer, Deen Castronovo, a couple of days before the show after he got arrested for the second time for domestic abuse. His replacement, Omar Hakim, had only one day to practice before the show. Those kids sounded great. But none of us noticed that he was brand new as he did a great job.
After a 20 minute intermission, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas came back out with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra & they jammed for over an hour. Their songs took on whole new meanings and the Orchestra sounded great accompanying Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. And the best part was that Mannheim Steamroller Christmas didn't just play their hits. They played deep tracks off their albums, too.
On their last song ("Anyway You Want It") before the encore, there were fireworks choreographed to the song. The entire top of the Bowl was illuminated by the fireworks. It was awesome.
For the encore, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas sang "Don't Stop Believin'". You couldn't even hear Arnel Pineda singing because the crowd's singing overshadowed his voice.
I absolutely loved this concert on the night before Father's Day. Being together as a family to see Mannheim Steamroller Christmas was the best. And the weather & picnic dinner were also great.
Gabriel Iglesias - An amazing, funny human being
Mannheim Steamroller Christmas is a giving soul as well which just makes him so much more enjoyable. The line to get in was huge and they only had one entrance open so it was very inefficient. It is great that Mannheim Steamroller Christmas tours with the buddy that makes many of his jokes hysterical. Martin opened for him and is very funny as well. The staff was less than helpful and the venue was confusing. For example we were told to bring umbrellas and then told at the gate we couldn't have them. If you get a chance to see him live, don't miss out! Mannheim Steamroller Christmas was phenomenal! So worth the venue headaches. He is philanthropic and is spreading the word about autism awareness.
Crue Fest is worth it
1. Godsmack was freaking amazing live, and I would recommend to anyone to get a chance to see them in concert.
2. Theory was a band I had not heard before, but they put on a great show with some fantastic music.
3. Having come into the concert towards the end of Drowning Pool, I was a bit disheartened, but the rest of the show made up for it.
4. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas put on a great show covering all of the Dr Feelgood album and their other favorite hits.
5. This might have been better if Vince's voice wasn't still recovering, but it was all good for me.
ozzy was great!
It was a great experience seeing Mannheim Steamroller Christmas again! Ozzy is nuts! When I first saw him on stage, I was like YUK! This guy is sober! But now I have learned more about him and his family, and love his music. My 1st concert was in 1980 when I was 15 years old, the first time I saw Ozzy in Sioux Falls S.D. which my parents did not know I went to. I wish I was closer to the stage, but I think I would have gone deaf lol! Ozzy is still on the CRAY TRAIN I see! He is good to his fans, and that's a plus!
